9.8 Flow Diagrams
A flow diagram represents a set of dynamic relationships by capturing the physical or metaphorical flow of people, materials, communications, or objects through a set of nodes in a network.
Two types of flow diagrams are Sankey diagrams and alluvial diagrams.
In a Sankey diagram, the width of the line between two nodes is proportional to the flow amount.
Alluvial diagrams are a more rigidly defined subset of Sankey diagrams.
