17.7 How many vignettes?

• For simpler packages, one vignette is often sufficient. If your package is named “somepackage”, call this vignette somepackage.Rmd. This takes advantage of a pkgdown convention, where the vignette that’s named after the package gets an automatic “Getting Started” link in the top navigation bar.

• More complicated packages probably need more than one vignette. It can be helpful to think of vignettes like chapters of a book – they should be self-contained, but still link together into a cohesive whole.
